Put Our 4 Decades of Experience to Work on Your Project
Hello, my name is Michael C. Hinton, and I own and operate Chem-Clean Furniture Restoration. I learned the basics of woodworking and restorations from my grandfather more than forty years ago. Since that time, I have been on a continuing journey to find the most effective and accurate ways to restore my customer's treasures. My training has ranged from working with lacquers in many countries in the Far East, to learning the history of furniture and styles, use of historically correct materials, and proper repair and restoration techniques. We are a small, family-owned business, and my assistants and I proudly continue a tradition of expert craftsmanship to restore all types and ages of furniture and antiques.
Restoration Philosophy
Restoring and repairing furniture is a labor of love. Old or new, modern or antique, we strive to bring out the greatest potential in your furniture and antiques, and exceed your expectations in the process.
We believe that preserving the historical integrity and originality of a piece is key to quality restoration. But a restoration project can also have personal meaning. For example, Mom wants to remember every mark on her child's high chair except for the broken leg the movers caused. What we do is repair the break while preserving the history of her child's chair.
Every piece we work on receives comprehensive, hands-on attention including cleaning, sealing and polishing. We also offer high-quality refinishing and repair services, which you can read more about below.
Furniture Refinishing
Refinishing is the ideal solution when the existing finish is damaged or a new look or color is desired. Chem-Clean Furniture Restoration does not use a dip system to remove the old finishes. We hand strip using a flow-over system. This method ensures joints are not dried out and there is no disfiguration of wood from sitting in the dip tank of lye.
Furniture Repair
The keys to quality furniture repairs are invisibility and durability. Repairs are virtually seamless¾no job should compromise the piece's historical integrity or current value. If Each repair is done so that it will not fail again under normal use. If after evaluating a piece we determine that it can not be properly repaired, we will be happy to discuss other options with you.
